Yesterday, Michael Krahn posted a fun top-ten list about one of our favorite subjects: Books! I liked it so much that I copied the idea.
The Bible fits well as the answer to most of these questions, but I wanted to make sure I had some variety.
With that said, away we go!
1. One book that changed your life:
Knowing God by J.I. Packer, which showed me the importance and beauty of good theology
Runner up: Pornified: How Pornography Is Damaging Our Lives, Our Relationships, and Our Families by Pamela Paul
2. One book that you’ve read more than once:
Humility by C.J. Mahaney. I’ve read this 3 times already and am on my fourth.
3. One book you’d want on a desert island:
My ESV Study Bible (I think it comes with an inflatable raft)
4. One book that made you laugh:
I’ll give you a few—
Why We’re Not Emergent by Kevin DeYoung and Ted Kluck
Notes from the Tilt-a-Whirl by ND Wilson
High Fidelity by Nick Hornby
In the “one book that made me laugh due to sheer stupidity” category: The Shack.
5. One book that made you cry:
Memoirs of an Ordinary Pastor by D.A. Carson
Grace Abounding by John Bunyan
6. One book that you wish had been written:
The one I’m working on. More on that soon-ish.
7. One book that you wish had never been written:
There aren’t too many that I wish had never been written. There’s more that I wish I’d never read.
8. One book you’re currently reading:
The Gospel-Driven Life by Michael Horton. I should be reading Hear No Evil by Matthew Paul Turner, but I’m waiting for my review copy to show up.
9. One book you’ve been meaning to read:
I’ll give you three—
Counterfeit Gods by Timothy Keller
Forgotten God by Francis Chan
The Religious Affections by Jonathan Edwards
10. One book you own that you’re pretty sure you’ll never read:
Parenting with Love and Logic by Foster Cline and Jim Fay. Not that I think it’ll be bad, but because I don’t really enjoy reading books on parenting.
——-
So that’s my list. Now it’s your turn!

Totally stealing this for my blog! I guess I better pull out Humility and start reading it. It’s just that I’m already so humble! I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on Forgotten God. My husband and I have opinions, but I won’t bias you.
See, now I want to know your opinions on the book; but I will wait.
Thanks for the original post. There are a cuple books I have now added to my WANT list!

Tough one. Not sure. Any book that turns others away from Christ.
8. One book you’re currently reading:
The Bill McKibben Reader: Pieces from an Active Life by Bill McKibben

10. One book you own that you’re pretty sure you’ll never read:

Nice list, Steve. Definitely read ND Wilson’s book when you get a chance. Totally worth it.
I take it MP Turner’s Hokey Pokey’s well worth reading then?
